Latex paint is a water-based acrylic formula known for fast drying, low odor, and excellent overall performance for interior walls. It’s the most commonly used paint in homes because it balances durability, washability, and ease of use.
In Muskoka homes—where humidity swings are constant—latex paint performs exceptionally well because it flexes with the building as temperatures change.
When to Use Latex Paint
Interior walls (living rooms, bedrooms, hallways)
Ceilings
Most drywall or previously painted surfaces
Pros:
Fast drying
Low VOC and low smell
Easy cleanup
Good for humid climates
Cons:
Doesn’t level as smoothly as oils
Not ideal for glossy trim without proper prep
Latex is the go-to for most interior projects thanks to its balance of appearance, durability, and practicality.
